VOID PROFIT Devlog #11: More life
14 October 2026 · Originally posted on Steam

Hello,
The latest VOID PROFIT update is the one I called “More life”. Space in front of your ship was looking a bit empty, so I’ve been putting other ships in it.
Outside your camera
Freighters, shuttles and the occasional military traffic now pass through the cockpit view. They have their own places to be, their own stuff to do. You can keep dealing with your cargo while someone else flies past the planet outside. I wanted the world to feel occupied without constantly demanding your attention. This comes in tandem with the idea that was implement a while ago where there are “NPC traders” on the simulation layer.

You can now see who’s scanning your ship.
Inspections have a ship now too. It comes out of warp, waits nearby while you explain your manifest and leaves once the check is over. I’ve worked on the colours, surfaces and lighting so the ships fit with the planets and stations. They should feel in-universe.
Same unpleasant interruption but you can see who’s doing it now.

Also, a smaller game in these trying times
The main-game requirements are down from 800 to 600 megabytes. The playtest has a similar reduction. The demo is down from about 700 to 600.
There are a few smaller fixes in this build too, including clearer shipwright part descriptions and background music playing properly while docked.
Ship assets are from Kenney’s Space Kit and Quaternius’ Ultimate Spaceships Pack, adapted to the game’s look. Thank you to both of them. They are probably the most amazing people in the game dev space.
Aetrocor has made no corresponding adjustment to your rent. You still need to pay.
